Join us for a transformative two-week workshop led by Germaine Acogny, the mother of contemporary African dance. Held in the coastal village of Toubab Dialaw, Senegal, the workshop for seniors invites participants ages 50 and over to reconnect with their bodies, with nature, and with each other through dance and the sharing of cultural experiences.
A holistic and heartfelt approach
Under the direction of Germaine Acogny, who also serves as the principal instructor, the program focuses on the discovery (or rediscovery) of the body in a context where nature holds a primordial place. All participants, regardless of experience level, learn together as one group — each person evolving at their own rhythm and according to their capacities.
Beyond dance, the workshop is an invitation to live the culture of Toubab Dialaw. Daily life includes:
Learning how to make local fruit juices with village cooks
Storytelling evenings and conferences
Excursions into the bush, walks to the market, singing, walking in the water
Time to reflect, rest, and be lulled by the rhythms of nature
The activities on offer are equally suitable for men and women, and it is possible to come as a couple, with friends or family, even if they prefer not to follow the whole program.
What to Expect:
Daily dance sessions with Germaine Acogny and guest teachers
A welcoming, supportive group of no more than 25 participants
Full immersion in village life and natural surroundings
Comfortable accommodations and healthy, local meals
On-site care including a nurse, traditional masseuse, and nearby clinic
