We were delighted to welcome the Secretary of State for Culture, Creative Industries and Heritage and his delegation to École des Sables on Thursday 29 August.

The visit provided an opportunity to make contact with the new supervisory authorities to explore ways of working together to ensure that the arts, which occupy a central place in our cultural identity, are more fully integrated into government policies.

This is an important step towards building a new policy of cultural sovereignty together.

On Thursday 29 August 2024, Ecole des Sables was visited by a delegation from the Secretary of State for Culture, Creative Industries and Historical Heritage. The delegation was made up of the Secretary of State himself, Mr Bacary Sarr, the Director of Arts, Ms Khoudia Diagne, technical advisor no. 1 and technicians from the Ministry of Culture.

On the Ecole des Sables side, the Managing Director, the founders, the accountant, the artistic assistant, the production manager and the administrative assistant were present, supported by the women from the kitchen, Birame and Inas for the installations and lunch.

The visit provided an opportunity to make contact with the newly elected authorities, in particular those in charge of arts and culture, to explore avenues of collaboration with a view to further integrating the arts, and dance in particular, into national cultural policies.

The Ecole des Sables has put together a programme ranging from the screening of a 12-minute film about the school to a lunch and a guided tour of the school.
