The Ecole des Sables, founded by Germaine Acogny in partnership with the Dance in Education department of the Academy of Theatre and Dance (AHK) in Amsterdam, is accepting applications for an exclusive artist-in-residence program. The goal of this residency is to bring together African dancers trained in African contemporary dance for an educational and artistic collaboration with AHK students.

Applicants must submit a complete application by November 15, 2026, including:
– An artistic resume
– A letter of motivation
– A presentation video
– Two letters of recommendation

For the video, it’s best to introduce yourself for no more than one minute, in English or French, and then perform a 2- to 3-minute solo improvisation. You may also submit a clip of an original piece lasting no more than 3 minutes. Professional-quality video is not required: the video should be clear and show your movements, gestures, and face.

Costs
Travel, lodging, and meal expenses for the selected artists will be covered by the Academy of Theatre and Dance (AHK).
